Overview

Chandrakhani pass located at 3660m is a blissful trek in the Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh. Naggar near Manali is the nearest town from the base camp. The length of this trek is 14 km one way and the entire hike offers delightful view of the mighty Himalayas.

The Chandrakhani Pass trek is a perfect getaway which will keep coming to your mind for a long time. The mountains are covered with the beautiful forest of pine and oak trees, rhododendron bushes, and alpine meadows. The forests are famous for its Himalayan birds like Monal. The trail leading to Malana and Chandrakhani is quite steep at places which make it a perfect trek for those seeking adventure. From the top of the ridge, one can see Bara Banghal range to the west, Pir Panjal Range to the north and Parvati valley to the east. Through the path of a forest cover of deodar, pine, and chestnut, you will also come across nomadic Gujjar shepherds rearing their cattle. The trek then breaks out to the alpine meadows at higher altitudes.

One of the most beautiful and serene passes, Chandrakhani is also visible from Naggar - an ancient town commands extensive views of the pass and its neighbouring mountains, especially to the North West of the valley. Naggar was the former capital of Kullu and was founded by Raja Visudhpal. Picture perfect Naggar valley, with its fertile fields, evergreen thicket and crystal-clear gushing waters which set against the backdrop of towering mountains provides everything that an adventure seeker dreams of.
